Bill Gates’ Daughter Unveils Shocking Medical Bombshell About Her Father

Phoebe Gates inadvertently mentioned that her dad, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates , has Asperger's syndrome.

During her guest spot on the popular podcast "Call Her Daddy," which is hosted by Alex Cooper, the 22-year-old Stanford University student inadvertently revealed some information.

In talking about bringing dates back to meet one of the globe’s most identifiable—and allegedly shy—dads, Phoebe offhandedly revealed information about her father's surprising health issue.

My father tends to be quite socially inept," she mentioned nonchalantly during her appearance on the podcast on Wednesday. She added that he had disclosed, "He has Asperger's.

The casual remark instantly drew skeptical looks, since Bill Gates has never officially acknowledged such a diagnosis himself.

Although he had previously admitted to relating to characteristics associated with the autism spectrum, this was the first instance where a close family member explicitly mentioned a particular disorder after his daughter made public remarks about it.

'Taking a boy home scares him more than it does me; I find it quite amusing though,' Phoebe elaborated before recounting an incident where her father took her and her date to their prom while playing NPR without saying a word, describing it as ‘extremely awkward yet highly comical.’

Audiences immediately latched onto the comment, causing it to rapidly spread virally through various social media channels. This ignited discussions and speculation about whether Phoebe might have inadvertently revealed details of her father’s confidential health records.

'Certainly not shocking,' commented a user on X.

'It appears that many people are attempting self-diagnosis here. Having a high level of disagreeable traits, being focused, and possessing great intelligence doesn’t automatically imply that someone is “on the spectrum,”’ commented another individual.

The wealthy charitable tycoon, who is 69 years old, has not made any public statements regarding this disclosure.

In his 2023 memoir titled "Source Code," Gates mentioned that had he been growing up in contemporary times, he probably would have received a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

In his book, he described his childhood struggles with socializing and his tendency to become intensely fixated on particular subjects—traits commonly associated with Asperger’s syndrome, which is nowadays recognized as being within the wider autism spectrum.

I used to be an extremely focused child. I could lose myself completely in whatever task I was working on, even forgetting meals," Gates stated. "If assessed now, I likely would have received a diagnosis, which isn’t necessarily negative—it’s just part of my identity.

In a February interview, Gates delved deeper into recognizing he was distinct from his contemporaries as he grew up. Axios .

He stated, "I've always been aware that my high energy levels and intense focus set me apart from others, often leaving them puzzled when I chose to delve into self-study."

'It can be quite bewildering as a child when you realize you’re different, how others respond to you, or issues with your social skills—where you often misread various situations.'

"I strongly believe that even though my parents might not have done so intentionally—since there wasn’t any formal diagnosis—the manner in which they explained certain aspects to me and encouraged me to engage socially proved to be quite beneficial," he went on to say.

Although Phoebe’s remark may not have been deliberate, it plays into a larger cultural change regarding neurodiversity and high-functioning autism, especially among those who excel academically or professionally.

Recently, an increasing number of public personalities, such as Elon Musk, have publicly admitted to being on the autism spectrum.

Phoebe Gates hasn't provided additional comments on the issue, and the entire "Call Her Daddy" episode continues to be accessible.

During her 22-year-old's Call Her Daddy episode, she talked about her partner, Arthur Donald, aged 26, who is the grandson of former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney.

"Oh wow, this is really tough. Honestly, I’m terrible with music. You see, our family is super into geeky things, so I never picked up anything musical. Instead, I grew up knowing more about technology than tunes," she explained.

She remembered when Donald attempted to impress her by taking her to see an Elton John concert.

"And Elton John appears wearing a dazzling tracksuit. I exclaimed, 'Is Elton John homosexual?' At this, his whole clan burst into laughter," she continued.

Phoebe mentioned that despite having dated Donald for nearly two years, his family continues to make jokes about the incident.
