NJ Photographer Donates Family Photo Session Proceeds to Postpartum Support
The beginning of May marks the commencement of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month.
A major concern for mothers is depression. The CDC reports that one out of every five women did not get questioned about depression at their prenatal checkup.
A woman from New Jersey is attempting to alter this situation.
Angela Spazianto is a skilled photographer who will be utilizing her talents on Friday for a charitable cause.
She mentioned that there hasn’t been anything more joyful than being a mother. Actually, she has four children herself. However, following her third child, she experienced intense anxiety.
"It kept me awake all night. Sleeping was quite challenging. Plus, every choice I made was overshadowed by anxiety," Spaziento stated.
This is why the proprietor of Angela Beth Studio located in Wayne, New Jersey, chose to connect with mothers who might be dealing with postpartum depression. The aim was to help these women document their happiness while simultaneously raising funds for an admirable purpose.
A family photography session is scheduled for this Friday in Waldwick, New Jersey, organized to coincide with Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week.
The CDC states that one out of every eight women experienced signs of postpartum depression.
Over fifty percent of expectant mothers experiencing depression did not receive treatment.
It’s crucial to recognize that one can experience various emotions simultaneously,” Spazienti stated. “Thus, I found myself feeling immensely thankful for the wonderful life I enjoyed and the blessings from my family, yet still struggling with overwhelming anxiety and concern.
The photoshoot session has a required minimum contribution of $25, with funds going toward postpartum support.
Spazianto is joining forces with Petal Parties New Jersey and Mama MeetUps New Jersey.
Mama MeetUps was established post-pandemic as a support group for mothers.
“I felt incredibly alone. I enjoyed spending time outdoors and staying active with my child, but when everything came to a halt, it seemed like an oasis after enduring so much gloom,” explained Samantha Omerza from Mama MeetUps NJ.
The time slots for the photoshoot are fully reserved.
Spazianto is now contemplating scheduling extra shooting days.
Meanwhile, she hopes that mothers understand seeking help is a demonstration of strength.
"Being able to get support feels very empowering," Spaziento stated.
