Health Alert: Popular Potato Chip Brands Issued a Public Warning
Cleveland, Ohio – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has released a public health warning regarding potato chip items that include chicharrón, which refers to pork cracklings.
The items were brought in from Colombia, a country not allowed to send meat products to the U.S.
A recall wasn't initiated since these items are no longer up for sale.
The products were dispatched to distributors based in Florida and New York as well as to retail outlets across the country.
The assorted packages were brought in from August 2024 through March 2025. They impact these items:
• 270-gram plastic bags each holding six 45-gram foil pouches of "De Todito Natural" assorted chips including flavors like "American Crispy Pork Rind Jack’s," "Margarita," and "Natu Chips."
• 165-gram foil pouches filled with "De Todito Natural" assorted chips including "American Chicharrón Jacks," "Margarita," and "Natu Chips."
• A 270-gram plastic pouch includes six smaller pouches each weighing 45 grams. The contents consist of "De Todito BBQ" flavored assorted chips labeled as "Chicharrón Americano Jacks," "Margarita," and "Natu Chips."
• 165-gram pouches filled with "De Todito BBQ" assorted chips including "Chicharrón Americano Jacks," "Margarita," and "Natu Chips."
• 165-gram pouches filled with "De Todito Limón" assorted chips along with "Chicharrón Americano Jacks," "Margarita," "Tostitos," and "Natu Chips."
• 270-gram plastic pouches each holding six 45-gram foil packets of "De Todito Limón" assorted chips including flavors like "American Crisps," "Margarita," "Tostitos," and "Natu Chips."
• 140-gram foil pouches filled with "Golpe ConTodo Sabor Limón" assorted chips including "Rizadas," "Plátanos," and "ChicharrónFred."
The items included in the warning lack import markings on their labels.
Customers who bought these items are advised to discard them or bring them back to where they were purchased.
