Monument Hospital Achieves Top Safety Honor in Spring 2025

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - This spring, a medical facility in Rapid City will receive national recognition for its dedication to patient safety.

MonUMENT HEALTH RAPID CITY was awarded an "A" Hospital Safety Grade by THE LEAPFROG GROUP, a prominent national nonprofit organization focused on monitoring patient safety. This "A" rating positions MONUMENT HEALTH RAPID CITY as the sole hospital in SOUTH DAKOTA to achieve this recognition during the spring period.

Hospitals across the U.S. receive grades of "A", "B", "C", "D", or "F" from Leapfrog, evaluated through 30 various criteria such as injuries, infections, accidents, and mistakes.

Jill Tice, Monument Health’s vice president for quality, safety, and risk management, stated that multiple factors contributed to the hospital receiving a high rating.

It truly revolves around fostering that culture; it’s all about establishing trust within our healthcare system and encouraging participation," stated Till. "We should concentrate on involving our doctors and caregivers, bringing them into discussions, exploring ways to cultivate this involvement, and developing these strategies along the way.

The monument mentioned that merely around 30 percent of U.S. hospitals receive an "A" rating.
