Healthcare Innovator Emplify to Launch New EmPATH Center in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) - EmPATH represents Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing.

EMPATH sites offer an alternate approach for treating individuals brought to the emergency department during a mental health crisis.

The over $5 million project covers an area of 5,000 square feet and will include eight specialized examination rooms.

Officials from Emplify Health state that this facility addresses the needs of individuals who require assistance.

"An EmPAT unit effectively bridges this gap by providing more focused care over a shorter period—within 24 hours. This allows patients to receive intensified support before being released back into their homes and communities, with subsequent outpatient follow-up," explains Josh Court, the director of behavioral health services at Emplify Health.

The EmPATH unit will be the inaugural one of its type in Wisconsin. Completion is anticipated for January 2026.
